Science Center

This past Tuesday De, Di, Kayla, Hayden and myself went to the Science Center. The kids had a fun time and it was nice to see Hayden and Kayla's imagination at work. Hayden's favorite was driving the TARC bus
and I think he could have spent the entire three hours we were there doing just that. After prying him from the steering wheel, the pair checked out the grocery store, doctors office, ambulance, rocket, airplane, slide and water works. They both got soaked despite wearing raincoats.
We had to dry Kayla's clothes under the hand dryer and Hayden had a change of clothes I take just about everywhere just in case.
We quickly explored the rest of the science center although none was appropriate for there age group. We will definitely venture back sometime soon. Maybe this time Addison will be able to join us. If anyone has any other suggestions for places that are suitable for a 20mth old let me know. We have done All about Kids, local farm, park, zoo science center and are now running low on ideas. I think we might check out the Louisville water front as it's suppose to have a nice water area for kids to play in

Stare Down

This kid can give some stare downs. He has discovered the art of evil looks, frowns, temper tantrums, arched back and limp body. Somehow he makes all these things cute. I'm sure the longer he does these the less cute it will be.

Monkeys, Water and A Cute Cousin to Share it With

Hayden and Addison had a blast at the Zoo's Splash Park. They both love the water and enjoyed splashing around. This was the first time we checked out the water area and it was very nice and not too crowded. They have a small area that is ideal for the younger kids and lets them explore the fountains of water that come and go. Addison really seemed to enjoy getting her faced sprayed with the water while Hayden enjoyed patting and splashing the sprays of water. After about an hour the two shared snacks and then we walked through the rest of the zoo looking at the exhibits. The hits were the monkeys and the merry-go-round. We really have gotten our monies worth out of this membership and haven't even had it for a month yet. It's nice to be able to go just for a few hours at time and know we will be back soon. Hayden seems to be at an age where he is curious about animals and likes to see what spontaneous behaviors they will exhibit. He is learning to recognize animals in books and mimic the sounds they make.

St. Edwards Picnic

Had a nice Friday night at St. Edwards summer picnic. We went with mom and dad. Hayden didn't eat much of the fish dinner (although his was a pizza dinner). Too many distractions. After the rest of us got our fill we took Hayden to the duck pond and he reached in and grabbed a winning duck (surprise!) Grammy helped him pick out a prize and he settled on an inflatable football. Then we headed for the rides and Hayden hopped on his first amusement park ride with Jeff and around they flew. Hayden had fun and didn't seem the least bit scared. Jeff and Hayden then headed home and I spent the night at Grammy and peepaws. Mom, Jilly and I started out at 6:30am yard sale-ing the next morning where I got a great deal on a kitchen set and several other good finds.

Today in Words

Today Hayden and I had a very busy day together. We started like a typical day that doesn't involve waking up to go to Dede and Pawpaw's which means Hayden slept in until about 8:15. I awake to hear him yelling "Eff, Eff" then when no one responds it's "Dad, Dad" and still no response then comes "Mum, Mum". It's cute how he has started yelling Eff which is Jeff. Hayden and I take bathes together in the big bath with the "bubbles" which is the jacuzzi tub and when Hayden is finished I yell for Jeff to come get him out. That way I can still take my leisurely bath and read a book for a few minutes. Hayden has caught on the when I yell Jeff he comes. Well this morning was no different with the serenade of different names. We then ate breakfast, got dressed, went to Kroger, got gas, went to the park, slide down slides, swung on swings, bounced on some see saw apparatus, went to stick our toes in the pool then come home, ate lunch, took 2 1/2 hr nap (well Hayden did), went to McKinley's deli, ate a sandwich (I did), went to local farm and got fresh strawberries, visited Peggy and splashed toes in pool, went to Wendy's for chicken nuggets, ate dinner, local firetruck came through the neighborhood, listened to siren, donated some change, took bathes, put on pj's, went to bed (Hayden anyway). It was a busy but great day. I only wish I had more of these. Didn't take the camera with me on any of our outings today so you left to use your imagination.

Mother's Day

Well I think this is my last post in order to get caught up on my several weeks of going MIA. This was my second Mother's Day and by far the best. I was served breakfast in bed which was a delicious egg sandwich. Hayden helped whisk the eggs and I didn't have any crunchy shells in mine. Then I was given the best gift. Hayden made a 3 dimensional impression of his hand. It was perfect. I have it sitting on my desk at work. I know his hands won't stay this small for long. I got a nice card from Hayden and a separate card from Jeff. Then I got a willow tree figurine of a pregnant lady. I thought this was all too much but discovered that the baby that is growing inside had somehow managed to not only know it was mother's day but also was able to get me a gift. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised because Hayden (while still safely tucked away inside my womb) got me a set of outdoor porch lights the year I was pregnant with him. My dear husband is very thoughtful and surprises me more and more with small gestures of kindness. I love you Jeff. We have created a very blessed family and I look forward to all that is still to come and love that our family is still growing. Thanks for all the hard work and extra effort you have been putting in these last few months with me feeling less than fifty percent. It doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. It makes me only love you more and teaches Hayden what the meaning of a true dad and husband means.
