On Friday when Jeff arrived at Dede's house she said Hayden felt a little warm when he woke up from his nap. Jeff brought him home and said Hayden feels a little warm. I felt his forehead but dismissed it as he was warm from riding in the backseat of a warm car for 20 minutes. We grabbed our bag and headed out the door to St. Michael's Church picnic. Spent about $8 trying to win a cake. Well Hayden did anyway. He liked putting a dime on the numbers and watching the wheel spin. he would pick a different number every time and I bet at least 10 times the previous number he played was called on the next spin. He then went to the inflatable village and had a fun time bouncing (rather standing while the other kids bounced him around). We then ate some food, selected a duck from the duck pond, played a few pull tabs, tried for a few more times at the cake booth then headed home around 9:30. When we got home we checked his temperature and low and behold it was 104.1. Oops! I felt terrible. Here we stayed out playing and having a good time when he was running a high fever but you would never know it by his demeanor. Gave him so Motrin and off to bed he went. Hayden continued with high fever throughout the weekend all though did not act ill in the least bit. Once the fever broke he then broke out in a rash on his chest. Poor thing has roseola. He acts just fine and has maintained a good appetite. On Sunday Jeff found a turtle in the back yard so we spent some time playing with it and feeding it "salad". That is what Hayden calls lettuce. The turtle was too interested in us but Hayden was definitely curious about this new creature.

Remembering the Fourth of July
This was the neighborhoods second annual Fourth of July Parade but the first time we were able to go. Sixty plus neighbors, kids, grand kids and pets decorated bikes, wagons, strollers and golf carts to march around the neighborhood in celebration of Independence day. This parade was complete with the National Anthem and God Bless America playing from a speaker on a golf cart. After the parade the neighbors across from use had an ice cream social and the kids enjoyed making sundaes. This was a nice way to start the day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves minus one little girl who fell out of her wagon. Minus the bruises and tears it was a success and we look forward to the same next year. Later in the afternoon we headed to Donna and Rob's to celebrate a soggy end of the day. This was the first time we made it home by dark and Linus was relieved to have some company as he is terrified of fireworks!

Father's Day 2009
This was on Father's Day of this year. I am still trying to get caught up. The day was a good one. We (really Jeff) helped Jillian and Travis move into their new house which is super close and super nice. Then had a nice dinner with all the family and Travis' parents as well. Hayden couldn't get enough of the blueberries and now that we know it's one of his favorites we try to get them more often.

Hayden's Cooking Wings and Beans and Shaking off the Calories
Here is Hayden cooking in his kitchen I found at a yard sale for super cheap. Jeff, Hayden and I went to Toys R Us on July 4th to pick up some play food and cooking set. This was Hayden's first trip to the toy store and he suddenly whipped into pro shopper mode saying. "I want", "touch", and "please". None of these tactics worked as Jeff and I set out only to buy these two items for his new kitchen and nothing else. Mission accomplished.
Today we played downstairs with the kitchen and he still loves some of his old toys too. Especially his bubble car and the gas station. I managed to get some video of him breaking out his new dance moves that Aunt Jilly has taught him in the last week.
More Pool Action
Hayden and I took advantage of Aunt Peggy's pool one Tuesday last month after picking strawberries at Gallrein Farms and swinging at the local park. we had some of our fresh picked strawberries on the back porch with lemonade. Thanks Peggy we had a good time and once the weather warms back up will be back for another dip!
Daddy + Muscles = Landscaping All Most Finished
Last month we went to Frank Otte's and spent about 2 hours and alot of money buying, trees, plants, shrubs and flowers. Hayden was very good considering he hadn't had a nap, it was 2pm, 90+ degrees outside and we were there for 2 hours. He had fun walking around smelling the flowers and feeding the plastic and wooden animals mulch and rock. He told me they were hungry and needed to eat. Of course he didn't use those exact words. It was more like "hungee" pause, then "eat" as he shoved pieces of rock and mulch into the unsuspecting plastic frog and wooden squirrel. Jeff then over the course of the following week worked in the yard from right after dinner to well after dark digging and planting. Hayden would watch and play in the mud after helping water the plants and shrubs that Jeff planted each night. Now when Hayden looks outside and sees all the landscaping he says "Daddy, muscles, plants" I guess this is from me telling him during the course of that week when Hayden was watching Jeff hard at work I would say "daddy is using his muscles to plant the trees and flowers". It's amazing what they pick up so quick. The landscaping truly does look good and Jeff did an amazing job. All that's left is to put down mulch as all the plants are in and the landscape lights are complete as well.
Audrey's First Birthday

Back in the early part of June we went to Aunt Donna and Uncle Rob's to celebrate Audrey's First Birthday. I have been terrible about taking my camera with me so Andrea and her friend Holly snapped some photos of Addison and Hayden enjoying the pool. They both are water bugs and the more water that splashed in Hayden's face the more he laughed. I finally had to pull him out of the water since his lips were turning blue. He did NOT want to get out and boy did he let me know it.

Later after Audrey didn't want anything to do with her homemade duck cake we went to Pawpaw and Dede's house to visit with Steve and Susan and there kids and grand kids. Hayden and Addison enjoyed an ice cream cone and watered some flowers. All the fun things that they get to do at grandparents house. This was Aj's first ice cream cone and wish I could say the same for Hayden but certainly can't as Pawpaw indulges him with this treat more often than I would like. Again, the joys of being a grandparent!

I'm Back
So much for keeping up with once weekly blog entries. I can't beleive it's been a month since I have updated this. Shame on me although I suspect that once this new baby comes I will have a even bigger challenge of doing once a month let alone once a week. Thanks to those who continue to follow even though I haven't been faithful with this. This entries will not be in chronacological order more like the order of ease I have in downlaoding the pictures from 2 cameras and photos sent via email from andrea and jillian.
