It's the Most Wonderful TIme of Year

The 6 cousins. The best we could get which was very impressive considering they are all 2 and under. Amazing what bribery with a cookie can get ya!

Cousins Avery and Landon
WHat great gifts God gave us for Christmas

Hayden on Christmas morning.

Jeff and Hayden on Christmas Eve.

This year Christmas was especially enjoyable since Hayden is a bit older. It was so much fun watching him open his gifts. He was super excited to unwrap his gifts and had more than his fair share to open. Every year we go to my mom and dads on Christmas eve for dinner and gift exchange. Every year we leave with a truck full of presents that is way more than we need. Actually we really don't "need" any of it. I think every year my mom says she is cutting back and every year she doesn't. Each person opens there gifts one at a time and we go around the room. This is in contrast to Jeff's family where everyone opens at the same time. Each family has there own traditions and some of each I would like to do with our little family. We were out at mom and dad's until around 11 and Hayden was exhausted but kept up with his cousins, Connor and Carson. Hayden really looks up to Connor and follows him around like a shadow. It is cute and Connor doesn't seem to mind it. He really does play well with Hayden and takes time to include him. On Christmas morning Hayden, Landon and myself hung out in my bed while Jeff slept on the couch downstairs. It had been a rough night with Landon. I did my best by holding Hayden off until around 9 before he really, really wanted out of my bed. Jeff gathered up the camera and video camera. We wished Jesus a Happy Birthday and then Hayden ran down the hall and into the living room and looked for his presents which were in a stack by the fireplace. He started opening one at a time and even opened up Landon's lone gift Santa brought. After opening gifts, Jeff headed downstairs and much to his surprise Santa had left another gift downstairs. Jeff yelled out, "Oh wow, what is this?" Hayden jumped up and slid down the basement steps on his belly so fast that I couldn't keep up with him. He found that Santa had left a bicycle and helmet for him. He loved it and kept calling it his motorcycle. Then Paul and Deanna along with Jeff's brothers and their families arrived for the next Christmas celebration. We ate and exchanged presents. Opening presents had not lost its appeal for Hayden although Addison only cared to open the gift that was wrapped in Dora paper. I had to entice her to open the gift Hayden got her by telling her Dora might be inside. She was very disappointed when there was no Dora but instead a book and pj's.

This year, just like every year, has been a wonderful Christmas celebrating Jesus' birth and spending time with our families. We went to church on Christmas eve with both kids in tow and they both did remarkably well in the sanctuary. God has truly blessed me with such a wonderful and loving family. I have a great husband and two healthy boys that I hope I get to spend many years with my Jeff well into a ripe old age and that we both get to watch our boys (and future child/children) turn into wonderful men. If they learn by watching their dad then they shouldn't have any problem. I have great parents and in laws as well as siblings and sibling in laws that makes spending time with each other something that I look forward to. I can not relate to some I know who dread this time of year because they do not want to spend time with their families. I love the holidays because it's the time we all get to spend together. So I hope you all had a great Christmas and that good health and continued safety see you through 2010.

Good Night Moon

Good night moon. Well that's one of the books we actually don't have. On this particular night Jeff read Hayden his stories and Landon came in to say goodnight. We have a bedtime routine of bath, brush teeth, 2-3 stories and our prayers, followed by lights out, sound machine on and then either Jeff or myself has to go sit on the master bed and watch Hayden until he falls asleep. much better than a few months ago when Jeff was having to sleep with him. A lot of steps to our bedtime routine but it works. Now if only we can get Landon to comprehend what bedtime means.

Leroy

Last year an elf named Leroy showed up the night we put up our Christmas tree. He is friends with Connor and Carson's elves, Chandler and Lane. Leroy is a much older elf and so he doesn't get into much trouble and is a little less mischeivious than Chandler and Lane. They have been known to get into cereal, string toliet paper all over the house and just cause trouble. Leroy has reported that this year Santa sent him to keep watch over Hayden. Hayden has been having some troble obeying his parents since the arrival of his little brother. Leroy was a way Santa thought Hayden might listen a little better but no. Hayden right now could care less about little gray haired Leroy and what Santa thinks. Leroy has been going back to the north pole with less than ideal reports on Hayden's behavior. Maybe next year Hayden will be more into Leroy. For now he responds well to time-outs. He really has adjusted well to his brothers arrival. He checks on him throughout the day and lavishes kisses all over. He is just being a typical two year old and is full of "no's". Lately his list of hates is diaper changes, going to bed, and obeying. His list of loves is his daddy, his brother, mickey mouse and tricycles.

A Stitch or Two and He's Back to New

I knew something had happened when I had four missed calls from Jeff. When I finally got him I learned Hayden had fallen off a tricycle and hit his head on Aunt Dianna's fireplace hearth. I told Jeff that since I couldn't see the laceration he needed to go ahead and meet his parents at the pediatricians office. An hour later Hayden had a bandage wrapped around his head with two sutures underneath and Jeff had some vomit on his pants from when Hayden was crying so much as the sutures were placed. Hayden didn't seemed to be bothered by his new "headband" when he got home. He simply said "Bump my head". He was instructed to keep the bandadge on til Saturday but it is already off and probably won't be going back on. Hayden has asked for a bicycle for christmas and I'm sure Santa will bring him a helmet if he decides to bring him a bike.

Little Landon

This past weekend Michelle of Sunny daze photography drove in all the way from Murray to take these incredible pictures. She really did a great job capturing Landon on film. To look at these pictures you would think he is such a sweet peaceful sleeper. Quite the opposite but he is sweet nonetheless. These are just a few of the many pictures and I hope to post more soon. These pictures will soon be a permanent fixture on the edge of the blog. In other Landon news we are doing everything so completely different than we did with Hayden. Something I said I would never do was co sleep and guess what? Yep, we are co sleeping.I went from not being able to sleep with anyone in the same room as me to having, my newborn, my husband and my dog in the same bed as me. Well technically the dog is not in the bed. He's in the crate in my room. We are spending lots of time nursing and snuggling as Landon pretty much wants to be held all the time and will rarely sleep if not being held. I am trying to embrace all this closeness as I know how fast it goes and in the future he may not want to be all lovey with his mom.

Early on Landon had some mild jaundice which is improving. He has regained his birth weight and then some. Was 8lbs 3oz at birth, 7 lbs 9 oz at discharge, same weight at 4 days, then 7 lbs 14oz at 7days to 8lbs 5 oz at 10days. Hayden has been dishing out lots of kisses to his brother and is very concerned when he cries. We have learned Hayden is a very sound sleeper as Landon's nighttime wails have not disturbed big brothers slumber. For this we are grateful. I type this very slowly and one handed as I hold my littlest sleeping son looking like his photos above.

Landon Alexander

Yesterday morning I called the hospital at 4am to check on bed availability for my induction. I was told not to come in and that they would call back with a time and not to expect anytime soon. Now I was wide awake and hoping I would go into labor but no so I went back to sleep for around 5 only to get a phone call at 5:30am saying come on in. We arrived at 6:45 and got registered, an IV started, blood drawn and monitors hooked up. My pitocin was started around 9 at which time I was still 3cm (same as on Tuesday doctor appt). At 9:45 my water was broke (which was not fun like it was with Hayden.... spontaneously happened in the parking lot as I jumped out of the truck), I was 3cm still and contractions started picking up in intensity. Dr. Brown said it would probably be late afternoon before the baby would make an appearance. Got my epidural around 10:15 (thank you Lord) was checked at 11:35 was 5 cm. I forced Jeff and his dad to go the cafeteria to get some lunch while Deanna and mom kept me company. The baby's heart rate starting going into the 70's and staying there, the nurse tried placing me in different positions to see if that would help and it didn't. By know it's 12:28 and she said let me check you although it's been less than an hour and you shouldn't have progressed much. She then said "Oh wow, it's time to have a baby, there's the head crowning now." In less than an hour I went from 5cm to 10cm and this baby was coming. Aunt Peggy just happened to show up to check on things so she timed it perfect to witness the birth. We called Jeff and told him to get back up here now and Dr. Brown was called. He came in, the nurses set up the table, he converted the bed, had me push once and the baby's head was out, one more push and out came the rest..... it's a Boy! He had the cord around his neck twice so Jeff didn't cut the cord. we waited for what felt like minutes (but probably wasn't) for him to breathe or cry. He then let out a wail and was measured and weighed, cleaned up a bit and given to daddy who brought him to me.

Bigger and Bigger

2 days before Hayden
1 day before baby K arrives

The day before his/her arrival!

39 weeks and 3days = 276 days = 6624 hours = 397,440 minutes = 23,846,400 seconds

Can't wait to meet the newest addition to our family.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Birthday Addison

Addison turned two this past weekend and had a fun filled second birthday. Hayden had fun playing with her new toys especially her pink Dora tricycle. It fit him perfect and he rode laps around the family room. He also liked playing dress up with Addison's jewelry and decked himself out in some pearls, beaded necklaces and bracelets. Andrea had a cute art project for the kids to decorate balloon animals. We made a cow. It's hard to believe that the three kiddo's (Hayden, AJ, and Kayla) all are turning 2. Time sure does seem to fly.

Happy Birthday Addison!
