One Little Monkey Throwing Himself Out of Bed

Hayden sleeping in his new toddler bed and his grandparents house.

So after returning home from vacation we had hoped Hayden would return to sleeping through the night in his crib. Well that was a big NO! He was not sleeping in the crib but was THROWING himself over the rail and onto the floor with a loud bang and then wails. He was doing this so much and with such little gracefulness that he had bruises on his chest and back. Afraid he was going to break a body part we knew it was time to transition to a big boy bed. SO the very next day from returning from Florida we found ourselves at Toys R Us buying him a toddler bed for Paw paw and Dede's house. He went for an entire month of not sleeping through the night and refusing naps to the point of vomiting in distress that I was becoming frustrated and nearly at my wits end. At home we bought Hayden all new furniture and decided on a twin bed with trundle for his new room. (I'll post photos upon completion of the decorating) While we were waiting on the arrival of the new furniture Jeff took to sleeping on the floor next to Hayden who was sleeping on his crib mattress on the floor. Since then Hayden has his new furniture and we took a nanny 911 approach and have successfully made it out of the room. Hayden who was once a great sleeper who needed no special care at bedtime now needs 3 books, prayers, the door left open, hall light on, small lamp in his room on, nightlight plugged in and mom or dad to be in our room where he can see us. Thankfully he falls asleep on his own again and is making through the night. I being the less than optimistic person envisioned years of him not sleeping and Jeff sleeping on the floor with him. That was one reason we bought a trundle to go under Hayden's bed. We are now back on track although a few more steps are required other than just laying him in his bed which we were once able to do. The one good thing that has come from this is that we now don't have to buy new furniture for the baby and Hayden's room is going to look awesome when Jeff is finished working on it.
